About The Position

This position involves the disassembly, assembly, inspection, and testing of new control valves, regulators, and relief valves. The technician will work from sales orders, customer data sheets, and OEM manuals to ensure proper assembly and calibration. The role also includes performing basic machining processes, quality control checks, and preparing products for shipping. The technician must adhere to safety rules and company standards, and may be required to travel. This role is part of a three-level progression system, with advancement dependent on acquired knowledge, skills, abilities, and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent education.
  • Ability to read and understand customer data spec sheets for final assembly of control valves and regulators.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial regulators.
  • Basic knowledge of various pneumatic positioners and controllers typically used on control valves.
  • Ability to use basic hand and pneumatic tools confidently and safely.
  • Working as a self-directed field/shop environment worker.
  • Read and record measurements using standard measuring tools such as manual torque wrenches, dial calipers, Vernier calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, tape measure, and scale.
  • TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport.
  • Valid State issued driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate good Ethics, Values and Integrity.

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years in the valve repair industry preferred.
  • Basic knowledge fundamentals, including Control Valves, Pneumatic Safety Systems, and Rotary Valves.
  • Experience with bending and running tubing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new control valves, including reading and interpreting sales orders and customer data sheets.
  • Safely disassemble various types of valves and actuators.
  • Evaluate parts, perform chemical solvent cleaning, and inspect parts for critical dimension requirements.
  • Complete all quality control sheets accurately.
  • Understand and comply with special assembly requirements and customer specifications.
  • Perform basic machining processes such as drilling and polishing.
  • Assemble control valves according to repair order instructions, customer specifications, and OEM manuals.
  • Perform calibration of all positioners and controllers.
  • Install stem packing and attach actuators to valves.
  • Set correct valve travel and bench set on actuators.
  • Tube up positioners and controllers to actuators and accessories.
  • Safely test control valves using compressed air, water, and nitrogen, and complete test reports.
  • Tube up, calibrate, and troubleshoot various pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers.
  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new regulators and relief valves.
  • Perform spring, orifice, and body changes on regulators and relief valves.
  • Test and set regulators and relief valves to desired set points.
  • Tag, seal, and prepare products for shipping, including priming and painting.
  • Ensure JHC TCC standards are upheld.
  • Support JHC colleagues and build relationships internally and externally.
  • Travel as required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
