About The Position

The Control Technician provides support to other technicians while also working independently. The role addresses day-to-day issues and finds suitable solutions under difficult circumstances, using sound decision-making and problem-solving techniques. The technician must be able to work at various job locations and exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters significant to the Company. Work is primarily within substation perimeters. Duties include installing, removing, replacing, wiring, and terminating equipment and cables in substation control houses and yards. The technician also supports crew operations, schedules projects, communicates with the team, trains and instructs, and helps maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.

Requirements

Associate degree in Construction and/or Electrical Services, or equivalent work experience.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on assignments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to multitask and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Provide day-to-day direct support to assigned crews.
Schedule projects effectively.
Follow up promptly and effectively on questions or concerns.
Present a professional image at all times.
Train and instruct team members.
Create open communication channels with the team.
Install new equipment in relay control houses.
Remove and replace old equipment in substation control houses.
Pull and terminate control cables in control houses.
Replace and install battery systems in control houses.
Install and terminate Cat V and fiber-optic cables.
Wire and rewire equipment in substation yards, including breakers, transformers, CCVTs, and AC and DC distribution panels.
Ensure the company vehicle is properly maintained.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Management Team.
