About The Position

The Control Systems Technician is responsible for assisting with the design and implementation of automation and process systems for Tree Top's production facilities. This position analyzes, codes, installs, tests, modifies, and maintains computer controls hardware, programs, software interfaces, and applications in a process control environment. Additionally, the position conducts operator, mechanic, and supervisor training on newly installed processing systems.

Requirements

  • Intermediate working knowledge of various manufacturers, PLC and HMI hardware and software application.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E and effectively implement electrical projects using this code.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of process control systems including instrumentation and process control hardware, software, and methods.
  • Basic understanding of food processing, thermal systems, CIP systems, and packaging.
  • Knowledge of graphic arts.
  • Low voltage wiring, facility power distribution, electrical and controls panel wiring, instrumentation functionality.
  • Understanding of program and project development and administration.
  • Understanding of process and equipment design.
  • Understanding of construction management.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering and their application to food manufacturing facilities.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred.
  • International Society of Automation – Certified Automated Professional and/or Certified Control Systems Technician is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and implementation of automation and process systems.
  • Analyze, code, install, test, modify, and maintain computer controls hardware, programs, software interfaces, and applications.
  • Conduct operator, mechanic, and supervisor training on newly installed processing systems.
  • Assist with the management and coordination of a variety of complex projects.
  • Design and execute complex PLC and SCADA programs, including analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Troubleshoot industrial processes.
  • Research and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Understand and interpret specifications, maps, plans, and reports pertaining to capital improvement projects and plant expansions.
  • Effectively organize, plan, and execute assigned tasks and projects.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, PLCs, HMI, and SCADA programs.
  • Meet behaviors established in Tree Top's performance management and development process.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and AutoCAD.
