About The Position

The Control Systems Technician will monitor, maintain, adjust, and repair building automation control systems owned or leased by the Medical University of South Carolina. These systems ensure safety, environmental control, and economy of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC equipment, Medical Gas, Fire and Smoke Control, and Electrical Distribution systems. The role involves rotating between a control work station for monitoring and field work for repairing, adjusting, and testing control systems. The incumbent is considered Essential Personnel in a disaster.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years of work experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus.
  • Supervises and instructs technicians of lower grade.
  • Briefs the supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment.
  • Diagnoses and repairs heating and air conditioning issues as they pertain to the METASYS Systems using proper tools and electrical meters.
  • Manually logs into Metasys when the system goes down to ensure labs are running accurately.
  • Recalibrates systems when needed, and writes or rewrites programs for the METASYS Systems.
  • Operates CCT when needed.
  • Monitors, maintains, adjusts, and repairs building automation control systems.
  • Works on a rotating basis at a control work station to monitor systems.
  • Works in the field repairing, adjusting, and testing control systems as they interface with various equipment.
  • Maintains work area and job site in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs miscellaneous and related duties as required.
