About The Position

The Control Systems Technician will monitor, maintain, adjust, and repair building automation control systems owned or leased by the Medical University of South Carolina. This role ensures the safety, environmental control, and economy of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC equipment, Medical Gas, Fire and Smoke Control, and Electrical Distribution systems. The incumbent will rotate between working at a control work station to monitor systems and working in the field to repair, adjust, and test control systems as they interface with various equipment. The incumbent is considered Essential Personnel in a disaster.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years of work experience
  • Ability to use proper tools and electrical meter
  • Ability to manually log into Metasys
  • Ability to recalibrate systems
  • Ability to write or rewrite programs for METASYS Systems
  • Ability to operate CCT

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus.
  • Supervises and instructs technicians of lower grade.
  • Briefs the supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment.
  • Diagnoses and repairs heating and air as it pertains to the METASYS Systems using proper tools and electrical meter.
  • Manually logs into Metasys when the system goes down to ensure the labs are running accurately.
  • Recalibrates systems when needed, and writes or rewrites programs for the METASYS Systems.
  • Operates CCT when needed.
  • Monitors, maintains, adjusts, and repairs building automation control systems.
  • Works on a rotating basis at a control work station to monitor systems.
  • Works in the field repairing, adjusting, and testing control systems as they interface with various equipment.
  • Maintains work area and job site in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs miscellaneous and related duties as required.
