Caterpillar Inc. seeks Control Systems Engineering Specialist at its facility located at 1167 NC Hwy 42 East, Clayton, NC 27527. Contribute to the concept, development and design of complex components, subsystems or processes. Perform complex analysis work, identify design solutions and resolve integrated (software and hardware related) systems problems. Meet goals for cost, reliability and performance, and managing multiple priorities. Keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as projects progress to stay current with new technology and provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers and technicians. Software creation and machine feature definition on the CUL (Compact Utility Loader) products potentially other BCP products using machine performance/tuning, software/systems integration, and analytical skills. Develop machine performance via on-machine development and off-machine analysis. Evaluate new products, processes, components, or systems. Perform needed analysis and initiate ideas related to machine performance. Partner with customers and expert operators to refine machine controllability. Develop and validate solutions to field complaints related to machine performance. Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units.

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, electrical system engineering or a related field and 7 years of experience with Performance Analysis, System or Software Design, or Test group or related occupation.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: Hydraulic/Drivetrain/Engine system development, on-machine testing and development, or software and/or controls development including rapid prototyping
  • MATLAB/Simulink, CANape, Linkage and Dynamic Simulation (i.e. CLINK and Dynasty) applications
  • Machine performance analysis, tuning, testing & software creation
  • Hydraulic controls on transmissions or braking systems
