BlueScope Coated Products is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join their Maintenance and Engineering team. This role is responsible for directing the design and installation of new or replacement robotic and automation equipment, developing standards for reliability, and ensuring engineering drawings and technical information are kept up to date. The engineer will also be responsible for daily maintenance activities on equipment and systems within their area of responsibility, and may support other maintenance activities during breakdowns or shutdowns. Key focus areas include acting as project leader for new equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and training; leading feasibility studies for new equipment; directing maintenance and reliability activities; training operations and maintenance users; rewriting or modifying PLC ladder logic programs; acting as a liaison between operators, leaders, and management with a safety mindset; evaluating PLC systems for end-of-life items; managing capital projects and ROI calculations; developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); developing and organizing training material; performing safeguard techniques and documenting program changes; ensuring secure protection protocols for all systems; month-end reporting; compiling data for key maintenance performance indicators; making recommendations for improvements; assisting with safety issues; creating, evaluating, and revising preventive maintenance procedures; researching new technologies; and communicating daily with internal personnel to resolve problems and achieve company goals. The role also involves acting as a PLC/drive expert and assisting with other maintenance activities as required.
