About The Position

The Contracts Manager provides overall support for multiple projects, coordinates with cross functional divisions, and supports the contracts team to accomplish departmental key objectives and goals. This role involves demonstrating an understanding of the high level of accountability and responsibility required to effectively analyze potential risks that contract clauses or terms may pose to the organization. The manager will review, negotiate, and manage contracts, employing tried and true methods and techniques. They will review contract documents and/or supply alternate language to contract terms to mitigate organizational risks. A key responsibility is carefully analyzing the details of contract documents to ensure terms are equitable for the company and that management is properly instructed on terms and expectations for both parties. Establishing and maintaining cross-functional internal and client relationships is crucial for fostering high levels of communication. The role requires knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply understanding of the FAR, statutes, and government regulations in managing agreements and IDIQ type contracts, including but not limited to GSA Schedules, NASA SEWP V, and other large GWACs. Experience in prioritizing assignments, multitasking, and adjusting to meet client needs is essential. The manager will provide customer-focused solutions by maintaining close customer contacts to preserve and enhance the company's business and corporate image, ensuring favorable long-term relationships. Coordination with the organization’s stakeholders and the ability to escalate potential issues to supported teams and management are also key. The role involves coordinating the review of potential new partnerships, teaming and subcontracting opportunities, and responding to solicitations internally and with potential vendors or suppliers. Maintaining an organized system of records and performing quality checks to ensure compliance and auditability is required. Preparation of contract briefs, deliverables, reports, and modifications, summarizing contractual requirements into manageable information, is part of the role. Upon contract fulfillment, the manager will complete the closeout process to ensure appropriate completion with no further performance obligations. Other job-related duties as necessary, required, or assigned may also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of solid, relevant contracting experience
  • Information Technology (IT) Contracting experience required
  • Understanding of commercial, product-oriented (particularly software and software maintenance) procurements by public entities is desired.
  • Experience with state/local contracting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MS SharePoint is desirable
  • General computer proficiency and working knowledge of MS Office applications suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with varying organizational levels, including Sales staff, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Significant attention to detail; ability to review and digest contract documents and balance risks against the bigger picture
  • Advanced understanding of contract/Purchase Order terms and conditions and detailed knowledge of the government contracting process including sole source and competitive procurements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the terms and conditions appropriate for different contract types (FFP, CPFF, CPIF, T&M, IDIQ, etc.) and their proper use
  • Detailed knowledge of source selection / evaluation process

Responsibilities

  • Proven ability to effectively review, negotiate, and manage contracts; ability to demonstrate and employ the “tried and true” methods and techniques in successfully negotiating contracts.
