About The Position

Operating under the direction of our coordination team, the Contractor – Transportation Safeguard provides transportation and safeguarding services for maritime crew members and related personnel. This contractor role involves driving, security escort duties, gangway watch, and logistical coordination. Assignments may involve travel between ports, airports, hotels, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities, medical centers, and other specified locations. This position is not an offer of employment. The Contractor performs services as a 1099 independent contractor and is not considered an employee of the company.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Valid state-compliant security license required.
  • Must have and maintain reliable and consistent transportation and valid auto insurance in compliance with state regulations.
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.
  • Proficient in using computer software and applications, with a strong ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required and must be demonstrable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Strong understanding of transportation safety standards and security protocols.
  • A demonstrated customer service mindset, with the ability to respond professionally to internal and external inquiries.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of relevant education (e.g., degree, certifications) and hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in transportation, security, maritime, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • First Aid skills or certificates are considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe, timely, and professional transportation of maritime crew and personnel between designated locations (e.g., ports, airports, hotels, CBP facilities, medical facilities, etc.)
  • Serve as a professional security escort and safeguarding presence, ensuring crew members are monitored and protected during transit and at specified locations.
  • Provide gangway security services at vessels in port.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and display professional conduct when handling sensitive information and interacting with crew, clients, and government authorities.
  • Follow assigned schedules and communicate proactively with the internal team regarding status updates, route changes, or delays.
  • Plan driving routes in advance for efficiency and monitor traffic and weather conditions to ensure expedient travel.
  • Prepare and submit accurate trip logs, including crew names and signatures, upon completion of each transport.
  • Abide by all federal, state, and local laws, including all transportation rules, guidelines, and safety regulations; ensure passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
  • Maintain organized files and ensure that documentation is prepared accurately and on time.
  • Maintain all vehicles in safe, clean, and operational condition at all times, including routine tasks such as fueling, checking tire pressure, and ensuring overall readiness.
  • Provide detailed reports on activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including port agents, vessel masters, customers, and government personnel, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Abide by company HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Role may evolve in response to changes in industry practices and technological advancements.
