About The Position

This position is located at Aviano AB (AAB), Italy. The role involves providing HH-60W Special Mission Aviator (SMA) instruction to active duty aircrew in systems, operations, tactics, techniques, and procedures. Instruction will be delivered in classroom settings, simulators, and on static aircraft on the flight line. The instructor will also assist Instructional System Designers (ISD) as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of training materials, including classroom and simulator lessons, courseware, student and instructor guides, and other training media. Other related duties will be performed as directed by the Site Lead, Kirtland AFB (KAFB) Site Manager, and Interim Contract Support (ICS) Manager. US Citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Currently within U.S. military aircraft within previous 2 years or within previous 4 years, if candidate has performed 11 years of military operational flying duty at the time of hire.
  • Must have a minimum of 1,500 hours total Special Mission Aviator (SMA) time in U.S military aircraft.
  • Must have a minimum of 500 hours of instructor time in U.S. military aircraft.
  • Must become familiar with and be capable of instructing required crew positions.
  • Must have working knowledge of all appropriate current Major Command (MAJCOM) regulations.
  • Must understand, speak, read and write in English for effective communications with all aircrew.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Must be able to obtain an Interim Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance prior to starting this position.
  • Obtaining a security clearance requires US citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous USAF Special Mission Aviator (SMA) experience in the HH-60G and/or HH-60W.
  • Previous Aircrew Training Device (ATD) Flight Instructor experience.
  • Have instructed Day/Night Tactical Operations (DTAC/NTAC), Day/Night Remote Operations, Contact/Emergency Procedures (CEP), Aerial Refueling, Tactical Weapon Employment, Day/Night Water Operations (DWOPS/NWOPS), Ship Board Operations, Aircraft Pre-Flight, Weapons Pre-Flight, loading and unloading and Alternate Insertion and Extraction (AIE) operations.
  • Familiar with SMA crew duties and responsibilities
  • Working computer knowledge utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.
