About The Position

The Co-Manufacturing Quality Manager will evaluate plant quality, partner with suppliers to develop compliant solutions, review product specifications, and ensure overall co-manufacturing compliance among other duties listed below. Must be able to travel up to 50%. This role reports into our Associate Director, Co-Manufacturing Quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related scientific field
  • FSMA compliant PCQI Certification
  • 5+ years of relevant Quality Assurance experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, in a food and processing environment
  • In depth knowledge of food safety, product quality programs, preventive controls, HACCP, GMP’s, allergen control programs and food defense programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Supplier quality management including audit experience and GFSI (BRC, SQF, FSSC 22000) audit certification knowledge
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% to co-manufacturing locations
  • Ability to motivate, manage, lead and influence suppliers, peers and superiors
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to include management ability with suppliers and team-based culture
  • Comfortable working independently as well as with a team while traveling frequently
  • Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to act with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel, and comfortable using Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Responsibilities

  • Owns the Quality relationship with co-manufacturing partners
  • Evaluates co-man processes for their capability to consistently adhere to PNC’s specifications and product design
  • Completes on-site audits for Foods, Dietary Supplements, Finished Goods, Warehouses and Services
  • Works with R&D and Co-manufacturing Operations to approve new manufacturing locations
  • Drives continuous improvement in quality systems and regulatory compliance through relationships with co-manufacturing partners
  • Participates in cross-functional launch team meetings as a Quality expert advising on manufacturing site selection, product design, and specification development
  • Provides necessary definition, development, and deployment of product/package quality assurance strategy by addressing all phases of product development from ingredient quality to the finished package
  • Ensures Quality, Operational, Process Improvement and Product Development/Transfer issues and projects are implemented in an efficient and effective manner
  • Minimizes risk and assures equivalent Quality levels are maintained
  • Attends first production runs and ensures PNC’s finished product testing requirements are carried out for every production run
  • Owns and resolves Co-Man related CAPA(s). Analyzes supplier related defect data to determine root cause
  • Ensures that the Co-Man deviations’ technical rationale and corrective actions are acceptable and appropriate
  • Partners with Co-Man’s to develop compliant solutions / improvements for PNC’s products / processes
  • Utilizes technical knowledge to prevent and identify the root cause of process or product failures
  • Reviews and approves product specifications, documents, and artwork
  • Assures that product is produced as designed by R&D
  • Makes defect parameter recommendations to R&D
  • Ensures Co-Man compliance to regulations
  • Acts as the main contact and recall/withdrawal coordinator with co-manufacturers
  • Assures that appropriate audit follow-up items are addressed
