The Contract Manager owns the full contract lifecycle — from intake through execution — for Xylem's global business segment. In close partnership with business colleagues, this role leads the triage, review, negotiation, and approval of US and international contracts; develops and enforces contract policies; and drives continuous improvement across the company's contracting processes. The Contract Manager also serves as a key resource for regulatory compliance, stakeholder training, and high-priority cross-functional projects. This position provides strategic guidance to internal business partners and customers on contract documents, bids, and proposals. The ideal candidate brings strong critical thinking and sound judgment to moderate and complex contract management challenges — including high-impact negotiations, cross-functional issues, and non-routine contract structures — with a clear understanding of underlying business cases and profit/loss implications. This is a hybrid-based position that will sit in our Charlotte, NC office at least 3x per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in general business or contract management
  • Demonstrated ability to draft moderate to complex, non-routine contractual instruments
  • Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts, the Uniform Commercial Code, public contract acquisition law and regulations, and applicable international contract law
  • Experience with cross-border transactions or international business environments
  • Strong analytical, influencing, and communication skills; effective presenter and team collaborator
  • Exercises independent judgment and creative problem-solving in resolving contract issues
  • Skilled negotiator with both internal stakeholders and external parties
  • Familiarity with corporate policies and procedures, with an eye toward identifying opportunities for improvement

Responsibilities

  • Advise business partners on contractual risk, required approvals, and compliance with internal management review policies
  • Lead the preparation, negotiation, and execution of service agreements, bid contracts, and other contract vehicles
  • Manage the contract change control process; develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiation teams on complex contractual matters
  • Analyze contract trends and assess potential impacts on business unit goals and objectives
  • Draft and deliver training on standard form agreements, in consultation with the legal team and senior contract managers
  • Serve as subject matter expert in designated areas (e.g., Federal contracting)
  • Act as the primary point of contact across legal, finance, and business teams for resolving contract issues and disputes
  • Support integration of new business units and contribute to associated contract strategy development
  • Identify and implement improvements to contract administration policies and processes
  • Escalate unique or highly complex matters to lead contract managers and/or legal counsel as appropriate
