The Contract Management Specialist I will be responsible for developing professional expertise, applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues, and providing centralized support for 1-3 divisions. This role involves effectively identifying, prioritizing, and communicating with leadership and stakeholders, demonstrating clear, diplomatic, and effective oral and written communication skills. The specialist will exhibit initiative, effort, resourcefulness, and a professional demeanor while providing detailed contract, budget, development, negotiation, or management assistance. They will develop and strengthen relationships with other departments whose services and products are integrated, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, and provide guidance and training on relevant aspects of budget and contracting issues. Ensuring reasonable follow-up on outstanding issues and escalating relevant issues as appropriate are key functions. The role also includes assisting stakeholders and business operations staff in developing agreements that comply with CCHMC policies and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, HSRP, export compliance, etc.) and applying those frameworks into contracting. Additionally, the specialist will negotiate, draft, and process various types of contracts with public and private entities, including research funding agreements with different sponsors (government federal and state, foundation, and industry), and agreements to support research and academic collaborations, such as data and materials transfer agreements, research collaboration agreements, services agreements, and network/consortium/registry agreements.
