About The Position

The Legal Executive Assistant (LEA) plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of an attorney’s practice area. By managing daily functions and serving as a trusted business partner, the LEA allows attorneys to focus on developing and sustaining their practice and meeting client priorities. This role requires a high level of administrative competence, a thorough understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to represent the firm in a professional and positive manner.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in an administrative role within a corporate or legal environment, specifically supporting upper-level leadership.
  • A High School diploma or GED is required; however, a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • The ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), research tools, case management software, and virtual collaboration tools like Zoom and Teams.
  • A willingness to learn new skills, including AI-powered tools for document production and case research.

Responsibilities

  • Managing attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, resolving conflicts, and organizing complex travel itineraries.
  • Drafting, proofreading, and finalizing legal documents, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Overseeing billing matters, processing prebills, addressing billing issues as a proxy for attorneys, and ensuring final bills are delivered.
  • Delegating assignments to support staff, providing mentorship, and delivering feedback for professional development.
  • Planning meetings, preparing agendas, and managing logistical details and follow-up requests.
  • Conducting research, compiling information for case preparation, and maintaining electronic and paper filing systems.
