About The Position

This position will be responsible for the management, inspection, and construction oversight on a variety of new preventive/corrective maintenance projects within Field Operations. The incumbent will prioritize and assign inspection work, provide QA/QC of asset inspection documentation, and will also aid with scope definition, budgets, schedules, constructability reviews, and permit administration and compliance. This position will interface with operations and maintenance team members, consultants, contractors, and various governmental divisions or departments. The individual will be responsible for reviewing projects to assure they meet Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering, business management, project management, or a related field; AND Four years of construction experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License from state of residency

Nice To Haves

  • Georgia Water Distribution Operator License OR Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator License

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, training staff, ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Prepare plans and designs for contractors and advises on specifications and construction methods.
  • Review inspection reports, follows-up with contractors, resolves discrepancies or problems, and coordinates activities between contractors, subcontractors, and other departments.
  • Respond to complex questions and concerns from citizens, contractors, and other agencies regarding construction projects.
  • Inspect construction sites, reviews reports and documentation, performs final inspections, and approves invoices for payment.
  • Determine project specifications, estimate project cost, and evaluate contractor proposals.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
