About The Position

Join a collaborative, client-centered legal team as a Contract Family Law Attorney. This role is a 1099 Independent Contractor position, initially for a 6-8 month contract with the potential for conversion to full-time. The attorney will be expected to attend court in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties and travel to the Houston office as needed. The compensation is $90-$115 per approved billable hour, with an expectation of 160 approved billable hours per month, leading to estimated monthly earnings of $14,400-$18,400.

Requirements

  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing
  • Strong Texas family law background
  • Courtroom and trial experience, including discovery and deposition practice
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and final orders
  • Mediation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle high-conflict matters
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to meet approximately 160 billable hours monthly
  • Ability to work as a 1099 contractor
  • Commitment to a 6-8 month engagement

Responsibilities

  • Manage Texas Family Law cases independently.
  • Represent clients in divorce litigation, child custody and support matters, conservatorship, property division, and enforcement actions and modifications.
  • Conduct family court hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Handle discovery and depositions.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and final orders.
  • Represent clients in contested hearings, mediations, and trials, including direct and cross-examination.
  • Engage in mediation and negotiation, handling high-conflict matters.
