About The Position

The 1099-Contract Investigator is responsible for conducting federal background investigations on a contract basis in direct support of national security and suitability investigations. This role involves conducting fieldwork, including interviews and retrieval of records, to produce reports of investigations (ROIs) in compliance with all laws, federal standards, and federal agency regulations. The investigator will accept fieldwork assignments for travel throughout the geographic area of responsibility, with opportunities for temporary duty yonder (TDY) assignments outside of the assigned geographic area. Key responsibilities include meeting investigative deadlines, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills, exhibiting a professional demeanor in a time-sensitive work environment, and managing data and documents appropriately. The role also requires meeting government and industry standards for quality, integrity, timeliness, and productivity, as well as maintaining compliance with all mandatory training, security, and credential requirements. Developing and maintaining professional relationships with ADC employees and contractors, reporting on observed trends and updates in the field, and performing other related duties as required are also part of the position. The compensation is based on the number of assigned cases completed, not an annual salary.
