About The Position

Technical leaders concentrate on the technical aspects of the production process, verifying correct setup and changeover, resolving production or equipment problems and reviewing quality of work. This role involves communicating safety discrepancies, assisting with product changeover and setup, troubleshooting equipment, monitoring and adjusting production processes, inspecting for quality, maintaining inventory, confirming computer input, providing reports, writing work orders, following company policies and safety regulations, recommending improvements, training operators, recording data, and operating production equipment when needed. The position also assists engineers with prototypes and new product development, inputs maintenance work orders, reviews internal communications, and participates in various continuous improvement activities like PM, MMOL, G5S, and Kaizen. Adherence to Environmental Management System procedures is also required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully complete all required job training.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 6 month manufacturing/warehousing experience or equivalent.
  • CRC Bronze or above.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and emergency procedure, and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Fork Lift License and Pallet Jack License.
  • Knowledge of database software; inventory software; manufacturing software; spreadsheet software; and word processing software.
  • Certified Production Technician program completion.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor or Area Manager.
  • Assists with product changeover and set up production equipment and verifies the functionality of safety equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment, devices, or products.
  • Monitors and adjusts production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Inspects production for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Monitors SPC charts and uses precision measuring instruments to perform quality checks.
  • Maintains inventory of job materials and ensures that operators have adequate raw materials and supplies.
  • Confirms the correct entry of computer input of ticket information.
  • Provides production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.
  • Writes work orders and updates journal at end of shift.
  • Follows company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Follows work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety in the department.
  • Trains operators as needed.
  • Measures and records data associated with operating equipment; provides advice or training to employees in the assigned area; and selects cleaning materials, tools, or equipment.
  • Operates production equipment, when needed.
  • Assists engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
  • Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Team Coordinator or Area Manager.
  • Inputs maintenance work orders through Maximo system.
  • Reviews internal email and calendar system several times per shift.
  • Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as needed.
  • Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials.
