At Doncasters, we have an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team in Groton, CT. The Continuous Improvement Manager will be a change agent to drive the integration of a lean culture in which every employee contributes to how work flows through the plant with maximum efficiency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical) or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in manufacturing plant showing progression
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a full time Continuous Improvement position / Lean practitioner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Change Agent; must possess strong project and change management skills and excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Green or Black belt training and/or certification highly desired.
  • Kaizen participation highly desired
  • Some training in Solidworks or AutoCAD preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead Hoshin Planning across all levels and functions of the business and provide coaching and mentoring to deployment teams in the process and delivery of strategic continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Lead Kaizen events and coach others on how to lead Kaizen events.
  • Perform data collection and time-studies.
  • Build visual factory tools and shop aids, shadow-boards, dashboards, floor markings, etc.
  • Manage the plant’s transformation roadmap, providing project management for the many initiatives in the roadmap.
  • Train employees on 5S and lean principles.
  • Support analytical problem solving and mistake-proofing corrective actions.
  • Plan and execute TPM deployment and events and train others on TPM.
  • Communicate regularly, concisely and transparently regarding opportunities for improvement and the actions required to close performance gaps.
  • Lead and direct Root Cause Failure Analysis of significant people, process, and equipment related down time events; implement corrective actions to mitigate the probability of reoccurrence.
  • Engage the workforce as a coach in order to develop a problem-solving culture at all levels of the organization.
  • Successful completion of Kaizens and projects
  • Measurable improvements in KPI’s such as Productivity, OEE and Rework
