This position reports to: Modernization Operations Manager Your role and responsibilities: As the Continuous Improvement Leader, you will have the opportunity to deploy and lead the continuous improvement strategy for a local organizational unit, including creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Each day, you will mentor and coach teams to achieve operational excellence and drive improved results. You will also showcase your expertise by leading programs and projects to improve and sustain local business performance. This is an on-site position based in Florence, SC. This role is contributing to the Electrification Service division, Modernization & Parts business in the Americas. You will be mainly accountable for: Drive Operational Excellence: Develop and execute strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and align operations with organizational goals through Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies. Lead Change & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Champion change management efforts, partner with business leaders, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance improvement across all functions. Manage Improvement Portfolio & Performance Insights: Oversee business improvement projects, track KPIs and value delivery, assess risks, and provide clear reporting and analysis to guide decision‑making and resource allocation. Build Capability & Sustain Improvements: Train, coach, and equip employees with tools for continuous improvement; ensure process changes are implemented, evaluated, documented, and refined to maintain long‑term operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Proven experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or related roles, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership positions.
  • Strong knowledge of operational excellence methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management.
  • Knowledge and ability to implement basic Lean/Flex Flow concepts: 5S, Standard Work, One Piece Flow, Kanban, Poka Yoke, Value Added activity, and the seven forms of waste
  • Leadership experience, either as a line manager, or working with management and strategy. This includes a collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Hands on approach, a solid understanding of different functions within a business to provide a holistic view to stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as per business needs, around 20%.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States.
