About The Position

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leads, under the direction of the CI Manager, is to work with the Production, Maintenance and other departments to facilitate the implementation of the company’s Operation Excellence Program (OPEX) by using lean manufacturing principles and other tools to develop and implement processes designed to improve safety, quality, and efficiency. The CI Leads will also be required to coordinate the training for OPEX programs and SOP development across all sites, and create a learning environment/culture of problem solving, inclusion and empowerment, responsibility and accountability.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of manufacturing experience in a large organization recognized as a leader in its field.
  • College or Equivalent Preferred - College graduate (preferred) Will except candidate with training / Certifications in OPEX Programs.
  • An ability to bring a vision to the Continuous Improvement (CI) effort that is aligned with the organization's growth and improvement strategies, coupled with the strategic and tactical planning skills needed to realize the vision.
  • Experience in project management.
  • A proven ability to establish, optimize and maintain world-class systems, lean systems, and other continuous improvement systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead teams to success with limited levels of authority.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with continually changing objectives/priorities.
  • Proven facilitation, influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (including presentations and classroom sessions) throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and proven ability to effectively implement the principles in a dynamic manufacturing/processing environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in applying detailed technical analysis.
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing concepts.
  • Proven ability to identify and set priorities based on greatest return on investment of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with reporting standards to provide consistent measuring, monitoring, and improvement of performance.
  • Coordinate a phased implementation of "Glanbia Performance Systems” throughout the GPN operations departments.
  • Coordinate, train, educate, implement, execute on operations functions and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper application of the (Operation Excellence Program (OPEX) not sure what we call this) to proactively improve the productivity and reliability of the operations.
  • Perform cause analysis on productivity and reliability measurements to target areas for improvement.
  • Responsible to deliver the cost savings target for the sites.
  • Coordinate / train / educate / lead / facilitate teams to implement sustained improvements in order to increase the productivity and reliability of the processing operations, and assist in achieving the performance target for each facility.
  • Ensure the use of continuous improvement tools along with assisting in 6S project monitoring and mentoring.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with safety, quality, and professional standards within the food manufacturing facility.
  • Sustained education and coaching of site personnel of all levels in Lean & Continuous improvement tools and principles.
  • Develop, design, and document processes that help improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Works to identify areas of waste and identify ways to reduce/eliminate the waste.
  • Work with maintenance, operations, quality when designing and overseeing installation of plant tools designed to make work easier, safer, and more efficient.
  • Work with production team members to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the plant process.
  • Responsible for benchmarking and best practice sharing across the organization.
  • Diagnose the operations processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and present ROI projects.
  • Able to use DMAIC process to define Root cause.
  • Know difference between Root cause and a Symptom.
  • Develop a sustainable permanent corrective action.
