About The Position

Axis Pipe and Tube LLC is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to implement projects aimed at improving key processes, driving savings, and enhancing efficiency within the company. This role involves establishing measurement systems, evaluating process flows, and tracking project results. The engineer will also develop strategies to increase overall equipment efficiency and foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement on the shop floor. This position requires performing advanced Root Cause Analysis using methodologies like 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, Pareto, and DMAIC, and applying Six Sigma DMAIC to resolve quality and process capability issues. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing/industrial operations with demonstrated continuous improvement involvement (steel/metals manufacturing preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Lean principles and problem-solving tools (A3, 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone, basic statistics).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); ability to build trackers, charts, and presentations for leadership and shop-floor teams.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills; ability to influence without authority and work effectively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred (Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, Quality, or related field).
  • Lean certification (Yellow/Green Belt) or equivalent training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing projects to improve key processes with high impact on savings and efficiency improvements in the company.
  • Establishing measurement systems and data collection plans to ensure reliable, actionable performance data is available.
  • Evaluating process flows, material handling, and facility layout for waste elimination and ergonomic improvement opportunities.
  • Tracking, validating, and reporting CI project results including cost savings, productivity improvements, quality gains, and safety enhancements.
  • Auditing processes and taking actions to improve them.
  • Developing strategies or projects aimed at increasing the overall equipment efficiency.
  • Driving a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
  • Performing advanced Root Cause Analysis using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, Pareto, and DMAIC.
  • Applying Six Sigma DMAIC methodology to resolve chronic quality problems and process capability issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
