About The Position

Health Ministries Clinic (HMC) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Continuity of Care Clerk to join their integrated care team in Newton, Kansas. This is a full-time position supporting patient care in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. As a key member of the administrative team at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Continuity of Care Clerk plays an essential role in helping patients access timely medications and dental services through effective coordination and insurance authorization processes. In this role, the clerk will support clinical teams while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in healthcare, insurance, medical office, or prior authorizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance billing practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and submit prior authorization requests for prescribed medications and dental procedures.
  • Gather required clinical documentation to support insurance submissions.
  • Track authorization status and follow up to ensure timely determinations.
  • Coordinate with providers, pharmacy, dental staff, and insurance carriers to resolve issues.
  • Communicate professionally with patients regarding authorization updates and next steps.
  • Assist patients in navigating coverage requirements and treatment access.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries accurately and timely.
  • Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure all submissions comply with payer guidelines and confidentiality requirements.
  • Organize and manage related documentation efficiently and accurately.
