About The Position

MCC’s Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Music Instructors to provide engaging and enriching learning opportunities for members of our community. This position will offer various teaching opportunities throughout the year and will be responsible for developing and delivering accessible, engaging, and practical non-credit music courses for learners of varying ages and experience levels. Music Instructors may teach courses in areas such as instrumental or vocal instruction, music appreciation, songwriting, music theory, performance, composition, or other music-related topics. Instructors will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participants to explore their musical interests, develop new skills, build confidence, and enhance their personal enjoyment and appreciation of music.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience teaching music in a classroom, private lesson, workshop, community education, or other instructional setting.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in one or more areas of music, such as vocal or instrumental performance, music theory, composition, songwriting, or music appreciation.
  • Proficiency in one or more musical instruments and/or vocal performance.
  • Experience developing engaging, hands-on, and accessible learning experiences for students with varying skill levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain musical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Experience working with adult learners and diverse community audiences.
  • Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Commitment to providing practical, enjoyable, and engaging educational experiences that encourage lifelong learning and personal enrichment.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education, professional training, certifications, or demonstrated expertise in music or a related field preferred.
  • Active involvement in the local or professional music community is a plus.
