About The Position
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you will use clinical expertise to provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care. The role includes assessing patient needs, administering treatments and medications, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and advocating for patients to support improved outcomes and healthcare delivery. This seasonal contract role is based in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, and involves floating to nearby locations. Work schedules are created in six-week blocks after three weeks of training and orientation. Shifts are expected to be 7–10 hours during clinic operating hours. A typical week includes two or three weekdays and every other weekend, with some major holidays required. The position is temporary/contract; conversion to permanent CVS employment may be possible but is not guaranteed.
Requirements
- Hold a full, active, and unrestricted LPN or LVN license in a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Have previous experience in Primary Care, Urgent Care, or an Emergency Room.
- Have experience with phlebotomy, vaccine administration, and point-of-care testing.
- Have at least one year of related work experience in a healthcare setting.
- Be proficient with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Submit a screenshot of the LVN license; compact licenses must be issued in the primary state of residence, and the license must be in good standing with no current or prior disciplinary actions.
- Submit a screenshot of BLS certification with an expiration date at least 30 days beyond the start date.
- Complete the candidate questionnaire, including questions about clinical and EMR experience, schedule availability, planned time off during initial training, understanding of the temporary/contract status, and distance from home to the applying MinuteClinic.
- Complete the initial three weeks of training and orientation.
- Be available for shifts of 7–10 hours during clinic operating hours, typically two or three weekdays and every other weekend, and for some major holidays.

Responsibilities
- Administer oral, injectable, intravenous, and topical medications.
- Evaluate complex patient conditions, monitor pain levels, and document treatment responses.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature, and identify abnormalities.
- Perform routine assessments to monitor patient health and well-being.
- Help patients access healthcare and connect them with community resources for medication administration, self-care techniques, and disease management.
- Conduct medication reviews to identify potential side effects and drug interactions.
- Develop and administer mental health assessments to screen for depression and evaluate mood, behavior, and cognitive function.
- Document patient medical histories, including illnesses, medications, allergies, surgeries, and family history, in electronic health records.
- Communicate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Keep the clinic organized, well stocked, and clean.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and advocate for patients.
