About The Position

Content Specialists report within Student Media to write stories, take photos, create videos and podcasts for the Washburn Review newspaper, website, BodPod channel, and Indigo Magazine. Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computers required.
  • Content Specialists are trained Reporters - Photographers - Videographers – Podcasters with at least two semesters of previous experience as Content Creators in Student Media.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience editing audio and/or video is preferred for podcasters and videographers.
  • Experience working in a professional office environment preferred.
  • Experience working with the English language preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Students arrange face-to-face interviews with students, faculty and staff on campus to report on the news and create content.
  • Students attend campus events as working members of Student Media.
  • Students write stories and create content for publication that adhere to journalistic standards, are factually correct and relevant to the campus community.
  • Students complete a minimum of four content assignments per week.
  • Students are available for the mandatory Student Media organization meeting on Mondays from 5:30 - 6:20 p.m., individual team meetings, and other coaching sessions to improve their writing and mandatory training sessions.
  • Students work for a specific team and report to a specific Student Media executive leader.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
