About The Position

Layton Construction is seeking a Content & Production Manager to run their content engine. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, has a business development mindset, takes extreme ownership, is a builder at heart, a bold go-getter, and has on-set presence. The primary goal of this role is to run the content engine that helps Layton win work and attract talent by directing the production team, managing the digital agency, owning the web presence, and ensuring the right story reaches the right client at the right moment in the pursuit cycle. The position will have a direct impact on Layton's market positioning, the effectiveness of its content, the quality and strategic alignment of all produced content, the consistency of its brand voice across offices, the strength of its proof point library, the effectiveness of its digital agency partnership, and its overall digital presence.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in content strategy, content marketing, production management, or a related field; experience in a senior individual contributor or team lead role preferred
  • Proven experience leading or managing creative teams (video, photography, or similar)
  • Strong editorial instincts: ability to identify a good story, brief it clearly, and connect it to a business development goal
  • Comfortable on set and on a jobsite, able to put people at ease and draw out the story
  • Experience managing or closely partnering with external agencies or vendors, including ownership of briefs and performance reporting
  • Ability to build and maintain systems: intake processes, editorial calendars, content libraries, asset management workflows
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneously
  • Experience managing websites on WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Deep understanding of how content supports B2B business development, long sales cycles, and relationship-driven markets
  • Strong communicator who can synthesize priorities and translate them into clear creative briefs
  • B2B marketing experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Construction, AEC, or professional services industry experience
  • Familiarity with capture planning processes and pursuit-based marketing (Winning on the Left or similar methodology)
  • Experience working alongside a paid social or digital advertising agency
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and organic content strategy
  • Experience with video production workflows and post-production processes
  • On-camera interview or documentary-style production experience
  • Experience with Monday.com, Asana, or similar project management tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience building or managing a content asset library for sales enablement

Responsibilities

  • Own Layton's content strategy across video, photography, web, and written channels, ensuring every asset is connected to a market positioning goal or an active pursuit.
  • Build and maintain a system for surfacing the right stories at the right time, including a regular intake cadence with regional marketing and business development teams.
  • Field and triage inbound content requests, assessing them against active pursuit priorities and market goals.
  • Decide what content gets made, in what format, and when, ensuring clear briefs and maintaining a visible production calendar.
  • Lead and manage the in-house production team (video producers, photography coordinator), ensuring all productions are well-briefed, strategically grounded, and delivered on time.
  • Travel to project sites to lead major productions, coaching the story and ensuring it lands effectively.
  • Build and maintain a proof point library of case studies, project highlights, and video assets, and establish a repurposing framework.
  • Oversee freelance video and photography vendors as needed.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for the digital agency, owning the brief, relationship, and reporting on ROI.
  • Own and maintain Layton's website, ensuring it is current, functional, and serves as a credibility tool.
  • Work closely with the communications team to ensure content production aligns with PR campaigns and messaging strategy.
  • Partner with Creative Services to integrate content and design, bringing designers in early and collaborating on copy and content direction.
  • Stay in close contact with the events and engagement team to align content production with project milestones and events.
  • Support HR and Safety teams with periodic content needs.
