About The Position

CNN Newsource is CNN's affiliate news service, delivering breaking news, enterprise reporting, live content, and editorial resources to more than 1,000 local news partners worldwide. A Newsource Content Producer leverages the global newsgathering resources of CNN and its affiliate partners to identify, curate, produce, package, and distribute compelling content that helps local newsrooms create impactful coverage across broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms. The role requires strong editorial judgment, a passion for breaking news, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive journalist who can recognize compelling stories, communicate effectively with affiliate partners, and ensure content is delivered accurately, efficiently, and with the highest editorial standards.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a newsroom environment, such as an assignment editor, news producer, line producer, digital producer, writer, or content producer.
• Strong news judgment and a demonstrated ability to identify stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to make sound editorial decisions under deadline pressure.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Experience covering breaking news and adapting quickly to changing circumstances.
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build relationships across teams and partner organizations.
• Proficiency with digital publishing tools, social media platforms, and newsroom workflows.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights as news coverage demands.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in local television news is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CNN, affiliate, and external news sources to identify and prioritize stories for distribution.
• Curate, package, write, and publish content for CNN Newsource platforms and affiliate partners.
• Coordinate editorial coverage and content distribution during breaking news and major planned events.
• Mine content and newsgathering resources for story opportunities, enterprise reporting, and beat assignments.
• Promote available content, live opportunities, and editorial resources to affiliate stations.
• Collaborate with CNN editorial teams, affiliates, and partner organizations to maximize content value and audience impact.
• Maintain a strong understanding of affiliate needs and proactively provide content and services that support local newsroom coverage.
• Exercise sound editorial judgment and ensure all distributed content meets CNN standards for accuracy, fairness, and quality.
• Adapt quickly to changing news priorities and make timely decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives that enhance Newsource's value to affiliate partners.
