KABC-TV (ABC7) Content Development Intern, Spring 2027
About The Position
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, near downtown Los Angeles. Our station is in the second largest market in the country. Weekly, ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns! The internship program is designed to provide you with an on-site educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station. The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027.
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
- Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere
- Major or previous coursework in Film & Television, Communications or related major
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
Nice To Haves
- Experience in and knowledge of using social media platforms to post and create content
- Completed coursework in producing, writing, or editing
- Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
Responsibilities
- Work with the show producers in researching stories, setting up interviews, and assisting on studio and field pieces
- Assist in the post-production process, including logging/transcribing interviews, and editing content
- Be part of the “On The Red Carpet” social media strategy, including content creation, and engagement and growth of our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, formerly known as Twitter, and other social platforms
- Write articles, create video content, and publish to the ABC7 website
