About The Position

The Containerboard Commercial Analyst position is an integral part of Containerboard Finance and directly supports the FP&A Manager. This position is a unique opportunity to work directly with the business in a fun and fast paced environment all while prepping the individual for future advancement within the team and Finance. The position is a critical business partner to the sales organization within Containerboard. Key customers include the Finance Director, GVP CB & Recycling, VP CB Commercial & Strategy, Director Export Sales and the CB Pricing Team. This role is responsible for providing the following services: Business partner analytics for the sales organization, Prepare and analyze business-wide operating results and trends, Provide detailed sales (customer & product profitability) analysis, Cross train on manufacturing analysis, Division journal entry completion for unique non-recurring items, Internal and external reporting, Support quarterly FGO Balance Sheet Reviews & internal/external audits, Optimize new automation tools to drive efficiencies (VIP, PowerBI, etc.), Ad hoc analysis.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
  • Track record of being a self-starter
  • Natural curiosity for learning and process optimization
  • Working knowledge of SAP/Business Warehouse & BPC
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills

Responsibilities

  • Business partner analytics for the sales organization
  • Prepare and analyze business-wide operating results and trends
  • Provide detailed sales (customer & product profitability) analysis

  • Developing relationships with business partners in order to provide customer focused value analytics for the sales organization to support business decisions
  • Learn to prepare and analyze business-wide operating results and trends for variance reporting and month/quarter end close
  • Developing skills to provide detailed sales (customer & product profitability) analysis as required by the sales organization
  • Cross train on manufacturing analysis in order to provide support as necessary
  • Maintain accurate books and records in addition to maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders (Sales, Finance, & Manufacturing)
  • Learn business acumen, key metrics (ROI, ROIC, etc.) and drivers
  • Implementing new automation tools to drive efficiency
  • Understanding pricing dynamics both domestically and abroad
  • Learn reporting and analytical systems (SAP, Excel, BPC etc.)
