Container Mechanic
About The Position
The Container Mechanic provides crucial maintenance tasks for dry cargo containers. The role requires a proactive approach to prevent potential issues (preventative maintenance) and the skill to address and fix problems as they arise (corrective maintenance). Success in this position is measured by the ability to consistently fulfill all core responsibilities to a satisfactory level. The candidate must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the job requirements. The position is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in repairing and restructuring container, chassis or refrigerated equipment.
- Advanced welding techniques.
- Familiarity with the standard repair procedures and quality standards for containers.
- Basic proficiency in English, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Flexible availability, willing to work extended hours, weekends, including nights, overtime, and holidays as needed.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card within 30 days of employment.
- Employee must be authorized to work in the United States, be able to obtain a port ID, and TWIC card.
Responsibilities
- Makes sure team members are wearing proper PPE, always.
- Completes a safety risk assessment prior to all work performed
- Works with management to schedule, prioritize, and control workload.
- Communicates professionally with team members, supervisors, and manager.
- Actively participates in safety and educational training as required.
- Performs any other management requests or directives as needed.
