About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Container Mechanic in Burton, Michigan. The role involves repairing and maintaining containers at company and customer locations, including refineries. Work includes surface preparation, inspection, fabrication, cutting, welding, mechanical repairs, patching or replacing tarps, and applying paint or other coatings. The mechanic records time and materials in an electronic repair order system. Clean Harbors provides welding equipment and a service truck. A valid driver’s license is required.

Requirements

Welding experience with MIG and stick, and mechanical experience in a fabrication or repair shop environment.
Successful completion of a structural welding test.
Ability and willingness to wear a respirator; must be clean-shaven.
Valid driver’s license and a clean three-year driving record.

Nice To Haves

Experience performing flat welding with steel.
Welding certification.

Responsibilities

Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes, making health and safety the top priority.
Perform compliance and safety inspections, correct equipment deficiencies, and conduct preventive maintenance on company-owned equipment.
Perform welding, cutting, grinding, mechanical repair, and other metalworking techniques used in container repair.
Maintain shop cleanliness, meet building maintenance obligations, and maintain welding systems, repair equipment, and shop tools.
Prepare equipment surfaces before painting and apply paint or similar coatings using HVLP, airless, or manual tools and processes.
Fabricate, cut, and weld roll-off containers.
Produce quality work that meets established standards.
Record time and materials in the electronic repair order system.
Keep the company truck clean, tidy, and free of hazards.
Perform other welding duties and tasks as assigned by management or required by business needs.
