Other duties include sampling and testing for potential hazards, including microbes, residues, and contaminants, and inspecting imported meat and poultry products. The inspector may authorize entry of compliant imports or refuse entry of products that do not meet federal requirements, coordinating with other federal agencies as needed. The employee will primarily work in one plant but may be detailed to any shift at any plant in the Dallas District. Shifts and species vary by assignment. Training is required and must begin within 90 days of selection and be completed within 12 months.
