About The Position

The Consumer Lending Service and Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s consumer lending service practices comply with all applicable laws and regulations. The role focuses on managing consumer loan portfolio files and provide support on all consumer lending practices including; compliance, product knowledge, system support to our internal employees and members.

Requirements

  • Pass the pre-employment credit and background check.
  • Associate degree or an equivalent level of knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through work experience.
  • Consumer Lending and Compliance Certification.
  • Knowledge of banking and/or credit union regulations.
  • Five years of previous lending experience.
  • Previous experience in consumer lending at a bank or credit union.
  • Understanding of regulations applicable to consumer lending, including compliance standards.
  • Ability to meticulously review documents, payment files, and compliance materials to ensure accuracy and adherence to policies.
  • Proficient in analyzing data, identifying discrepancies, and assessing compliance risks within consumer lending processes.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to educate staff on compliance matters and servicing policies.
  • Adaptability to adjust to changing regulations, industry trends, and organizational policies while remaining effective in role.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to help people.
  • Must have the ability to identify member opportunities for financial improvement, communicate recommendations, and provide support.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous support to branches on all lending matters.
  • Conduct independent second review for all denials to identify inconsistencies, missed opportunities and inadvertent discrimination.
  • Review, fund, and process consumer and indirect loans.
  • Process paid-in-full loans and related documentation.
  • Apply and release UCC and title lien filings.
  • Assess and process military rate reduction requests.
  • Verify GAP policies, funding, and debt protection cancellations.
  • Maintain consumer lending general ledgers.
  • Complete address file maintenance and due date change requests.
  • Monitor and update accounts using off-cycle transfer reports.
  • Review short-pay and paid-ahead reports, providing resolutions.
  • Maintain forced place insurance debits and credit records.
  • Sort and distribute daily mail and courier bags.
  • Prepare documentation for subsequent action forms.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating written procedures.
  • Review post-close loan files and communicate findings.
  • Monitor and correct Synergy loan exceptions.
  • Stay up-to-date with all regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with financial documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrate work style aligned with company values.

  • Provide friendly, helpful service to our members that promotes financial discipline though: Prepare daily interactions with a professional image and an organized workstation, Maintain knowledge of BHCCU products and processes.
  • Follows Processes and procedures established to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT). Complete required, annual AML/CFT training to ensure you understand your responsibilities that apply to AML/CFT, including: CIP (Customer Identification Program), CDD (Customer Due Diligence), Beneficial Owner Identification and Verification, Prohibited Account Types, CTRs (Currency Transaction Report), SARs (Suspicious Activity Report), OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control), Monetary Instruments, Record Retention.
  • Provide support to Transformation with the objective to streamline processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
