About The Position

This role involves managing delinquent loan accounts, working with various stakeholders to resolve issues, and ensuring compliance with collection policies and legal requirements. The specialist will be responsible for making initial contact with delinquent customers, coordinating with dealers and insurance companies, managing collection agency assignments, and handling bankruptcy postings. Additionally, the role requires retrieving delinquency reports and working with loan officers for collection purposes.

Requirements

• Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school and some college courses, including specific courses in business and math.
• Prior collections experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and relations skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact face-to-face and over the telephone.
• Demonstrated ability to use tact, diplomacy, and maintain a professional appearance when dealing with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to initiate work activities with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good math and statistical aptitude.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
• Analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Good typing, word processing, and written communication skills.
• Good proofreading and editing skills.
• Ability to learn and understand computer systems used for evaluating/processing transactions.

• Ability to apply knowledge of regulations and procedures in day-to-day operations.
• Ability to learn and understand applicable statutes and procedures affecting the collection or recovery of payments/debts.
• Ability to locate borrowers who have ceased making loan payments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of collection policies, manuals, and applicable legalities.
• Work closely with dealers for cancellation of insurance products.
• Work closely with insurance companies to complete claims and gap coverages.
• Serve as the point of contact for assignments to the collection agency.
• Complete bankruptcy postings and coding.
• Work with loan officers for collection purposes.
• Retrieve delinquency reports.
• Make initial contact (telephone, letter, or face-to-face) with loan customers whose accounts are delinquent.
• Other duties as assigned.
