About The Position

This position involves contacting property owners and public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals, conducting tree and brush inventories, and performing hazard tree inspections and evaluations. The role requires planning work for tree contractors, gathering and managing field data (including tree species, size, and distance from conductors), and validating data across various database systems to ensure reporting accuracy. The Consulting Utility Forester will also verify that summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets, safeguard employees and the public from hazards, and enforce on-the-job safety practices. Responsibilities include carrying and utilizing materials, tools, and equipment, servicing trucks and equipment, and maintaining a neat and orderly work area. Adherence to company policies, internal controls, and Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership is expected. The role requires compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. The position may require some outside travel, and during emergencies or natural disasters, the employee may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster. Requirements

  • Proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards
  • Superior species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
  • Ability to interact with staff and other stakeholders as required or directed
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as team
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Superior organization and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills a priority
  • Willing to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
  • Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience in utility line clearance
  • Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
  • Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer
  • Proficient in map navigation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
