About The Position

This position involves essential job duties related to utility forestry, including contacting property owners, conducting tree inventories and hazard inspections, planning work for contractors, and managing field data. The role requires safeguarding employees and the public from hazards, enforcing safety practices, and maintaining equipment. The position may involve outside travel and requires availability during emergencies. The job description is not exhaustive and duties may change.

Requirements

• Exhibit proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards
• Superior species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
• Ability to interact with staff and other stakeholders as required or directed
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as team
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Superior organization and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills a priority
• Willing to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
• Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience in utility line clearance
• Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer
• Proficient in map navigation skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Contact property owners & public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals
• Conduct tree and brush inventories
• Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations
• Plan work for tree contractors
• Gather and manage field data; including tree species, size, and distance from conductors
• Validate data across various database systems to ensure reporting is accurate
• Verify that summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area
• Enforce on-the-job safety practices
• Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at work site
• Service trucks and equipment, keep trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion
• Ensure adherence to company policies and internal controls
• Support Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
