About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Consulting Structural Engineer I to support their Englewood, CO office. This role is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within the schedule and budget of an assigned project. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on company, project, or contract needs.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of professional experience within a discipline or specialty.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License required.
  • In-depth level of knowledge within a specific discipline and understanding of the other disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, including AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, and ACI 318.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in STAAD.Pro modeling, analysis, design, and post processing.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS analysis software
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in MathCad, Excel, and Word.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Position may require travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree or Doctorate in structural engineering
  • Structural Engineer's (SE) license
  • Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR
  • In-depth knowledge of AISC Seismic Design Provisions, i.e., AISC 341
  • Basic knowledge of nuclear facility design codes including ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 43, and DOE-STD-1020
  • Working knowledge of soil-structure interaction and seismic response spectrum analysis

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, reviews, and approves drawings as required.
  • Leads various size groups of engineers, designers, and/or specialists.
  • Uses data supplied by others to prepare a basic outline of work to be completed and establishes a schedule compatible with project goals and budgets.
  • Develops and documents all calculations for assignments.
  • Prepares and documents economic analyses and other system studies.
  • Provides progress reports and alerts others about delays and specialized conditions.
  • Prepares and presents expert testimony before regulatory bodies and courts.
  • Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management.
  • Contributes to technical literature in area of specialty.
  • Assists with the preparation of project scope within a specific discipline.
  • Works toward alignment of customer and company objectives.
  • Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline.
  • Fully understands the use of vendor documents and can review documents for accuracy.
  • Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
