About The Position

At ERM, as an Consulting Senior Associate, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Generalist, based in Overland Park, Kansas, you’ll be part of a global sustainability consulting firm that helps organizations solve some of their most pressing environmental and operational challenges. You’ll help organizations navigate complex EHS requirements while advancing sustainable practices. Your contributions will influence project outcomes, support regulatory compliance, and drive environmental stewardship across diverse client portfolios. Requirements

  • BS in engineering, environmental science or environmental science-related field (e.g., geology), occupational health and safety, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA. or equivalent experience
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships
  • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and challenging terrain
  • Detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Experience recording and writing detailed technical data and reports, and building tables and spreadsheets (including tabulation and manipulation of data)
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant: team-oriented, eager to learn and grow, self-starter, versatile, and service-oriented
  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail, while maintaining a big-picture perspective
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area
  • Ability to maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background check and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to meaningful environmental and EHS projects for large industrial and global clients
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Help identify and implement solutions that reduce environmental risk and improve sustainability performance
  • Play a key role in fieldwork, data collection, and technical reporting that informs critical business decisions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and access a network of national EHS experts for ongoing learning and development
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, sustainability, site investigation and remediation, and due diligence transaction projects
  • Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, hazardous material management, oil spill prevention, and NPDES stormwater and wastewater programs
  • Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement corrective actions to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Provide general EHS compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance as needed
  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments to support property transactions
  • Perform fieldwork including sampling, ecological field studies, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and system operation and maintenance
  • Compile and evaluate environmental data and assist in technical report preparation
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining high-quality deliverables
