About The Position

ERM is seeking a Consulting Associate, Site Investigation and Remediation to join their growing consulting team. This role offers meaningful exposure to site investigation, remediation, compliance, and hazardous waste management projects. The position involves working closely with experienced project managers and partners, gaining technical depth, field experience, and mentorship needed to build toward professional registration while helping clients address complex environmental risks in a more sustainable way. This role plays a critical part in helping organizations understand, manage, and remediate environmental impacts. As regulations evolve and sustainability expectations grow, the work will directly support safer communities, responsible development, and long-term environmental protection—bringing science, engineering, and practical solutions together. The impact of this role is contributing to high-impact environmental projects that support property transactions, regulatory compliance, remediation strategies, and operational performance. Fieldwork and technical analysis will help clients make informed decisions while strengthening ERM’s reputation for technical excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, or a related environmental discipline (Master’s degree a plus). Or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Willingness and interest in field assignments; ability to stand or walk for full field days
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to Health and Safety protocols
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to record and prepare detailed technical data and reports
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented, solutions- and results-focused approach with hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask, remain flexible, travel, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fieldwork including data collection; soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling
  • Support aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, soil borings, and monitoring well installation
  • Perform well development, purging, and sampling activities
  • Assist with remedial and wastewater treatment pilot tests, remedial system operation and maintenance, and in-plant support
  • Support groundwater and wastewater system performance monitoring
  • Perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments to support property transactions
  • Compile, evaluate, and interpret data and assist with technical report preparation
  • Prepare environmental compliance work plans, permits, and reports related to air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, and wastewater
  • Assist with compliance efforts across federal, state, and local regulations
  • Work within quality, budget, and schedule expectations aligned to scope-specific assignments
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, tenants, and clients during field activities
