About The Position

Seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and hard working physiatrist to join our expanding rehabilitation medicine practice in an academic environment. Primary job responsibilities focus on the development and maintenance of a busy inpatient consultative physiatry practice in both acute care and sub-acute rehabilitation settings. Other practice opportunities may include outpatient practice in some circumstances. Montefiore Health System (MHS), comprised of more than 12 hospitals and a multitude of outpatient facilities, is a leading force in healthcare delivery throughout the Bronx and the Hudson Valley. The Department of Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center is one of the largest and most diverse faculties in the Northeast Region. In addition, the department has a strong education component, supporting 31 residents and approximately 12 fellows each academic year. Our faculty members have diverse interests including ultrasound guided procedures, general musculoskeletal care, neuro-rehabilitation, peri-transplant rehabilitation, oncologic rehabilitation pediatric rehabilitation, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, as well as spasticity management, prosthetics and orthotics, and others.

Requirements

  • Board eligible or board-certified physiatrist.

Responsibilities

  • Help sustain and grow an active consultation service in both the acute care hospital setting as well as in a sub-acute rehabilitation setting.
  • Work closely with colleagues within the department as well as with physicians from other related fields in order to support an integrated care model and facilitate high quality care.
  • Actively participate in the training of residents, which may include curriculum development, direct supervision of trainees and their evaluation in collaboration with our PM&R residency.
  • Take an active role in ongoing and new research endeavors in the area of rehabilitation medicine.
