About The Position

Nationwide is looking for a Marketing Consultant to help grow our Excess & Surplus Lines (E&S) Wholesale business. In this role, you’ll turn business priorities, market insights, and customer needs into marketing strategies that help wholesale agents and brokers understand the value of Nationwide’s specialized solutions. You’ll work at the intersection of strategy and execution—developing positioning and messaging, shaping integrated marketing plans, and partnering with experts across product, underwriting, distribution, creative, digital, media, communications, and marketing operations. Your work will help strengthen partner engagement, build awareness, and support business growth in a dynamic and specialized market. This opportunity is a strong fit for a marketer who enjoys connecting the big picture to the details that bring it to life, is comfortable working with senior stakeholders, and wants to see their ideas move from insight to activation. As a Consultant, you are responsible for leading and/or assisting the overall development and execution of marketing strategies using highly advanced marketing principles and standard methodologies. You will execute on future business or marketing needs driven by quantitative data/research, competitive insights and/or consumer behaviors. We'll count on you to ensure a strong focus on end-to-end customer experience, delivering outstanding customer experience overall.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and activating integrated marketing or product marketing strategies.
  • Strong ability to turn complex products, market insights, and business goals into clear positioning and compelling messaging.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external or internal creative, media, digital, content, or communications partners.
  • Comfort using performance data and customer insights to make decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder-influence skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Typically eight or more years related professional experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, financial services, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products, distribution systems, and customers.
  • Knowledge of project leadership concepts and methodologies.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written skills needed to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to lead and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to function independently or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates core marketing proficiencies, including strategy development, utilization of insights and analytics, building brand equity and developing effective marketing communications.
  • Skilled at customer focus, operating capabilities, personal effectiveness, and strategic capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance, financial services, B2B, partner marketing, or experience marketing to distribution channels is helpful—but not the only path to success.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Technical financial services designations such as FINRA, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus.
  • Additional licensing may be required to hold this position; and associates will need to acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product marketing strategies and messaging that increase awareness, consideration, and adoption of E&S Wholesale solutions among agents and brokers.
  • Translate market research, customer and partner insights, product information, underwriting appetite, and competitive intelligence into clear, audience-focused stories.
  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to identify priorities, define desired outcomes, and recommend marketing investments.
  • Create project briefs and guide work with creative, content, digital, media, public relations, and channel partners.
  • Support integrated campaigns across email, web, paid media, social, public relations, print, events, and other relevant channels.
  • Build thought leadership and partner-facing content that demonstrates Nationwide’s expertise and differentiated value.
  • Use performance data and market feedback to optimize campaigns, improve the partner experience, and inform future plans.
  • Identify process, technology, and capability improvements that make marketing more effective and easier for partners to engage with.
  • Build trusted relationships across marketing, product, underwriting, distribution, and business leadership.
  • Stay current on E&S market dynamics, competitive trends, product priorities, and the evolving needs of wholesale partners.
  • Assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business. Synthesizes data and uses this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions
  • Leads projects and processes within area of responsibility to deliver results with multiple target completion dates and shifting priorities.
  • Implements digital and traditional marketing tactics and media, including creative development process, planning, and execution.
  • Collaborates on and/or may lead creative development, and provides feedback on look and feel. Develops creative briefs.
  • Monitors emerging innovative trends in content, design and marketing tactics
  • Reviews and uses customer insights and analytics and tools to understand and forecast market, competitor and customer needs and behavior, define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively get results with data-based decisions.
  • Ensures programs are on strategy and on schedule.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
