The Fee-Based Solutions team promotes disciplined portfolio management across discretionary and non-discretionary advisory models, enabling advisors to enhance client outcomes through scalable and customized portfolio construction. By advancing fee-based solutions and disciplined portfolio management, we empower advisors to deliver unbiased, client-focused advice aligned with long-term objectives. As a Consultant on the centralized team, you will support Wood Gundy advisors in growing their practices through scalable portfolio management and running the day to day business of Fee-Based Solutions. Responsibilities include advisor book reviews, practice optimization, pricing support, launching new strategies, and serving as the main contact for fee-based inquiries. You will collaborate with senior Fee-Based Solutions team members to identify and implement strategic initiatives that enhance the Fee-Based Solutions programs and Unified Account platform for advisors and clients.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience in financial services working within a brokerage platform and/or knowledge of the wealth management industry (5+ years).
  • Knowledge of Fee-Based Solutions such as Separately Managed Accounts, Advisor Managed Discretionary programs, Non-Discretionary programs and/ or Unified Account programs.
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to advisors and associates as well as a variety of internal/external stakeholders.
  • Enjoy investigating problems, and making sense of information.
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and accurately.
  • Confident in ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • Leverage problem solving skills to creatively develop new approaches and solutions necessary to resolve financial problems.
  • Understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life.
  • Demonstrated project management experience; ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively, to meet deadlines, while managing competing priorities.
  • Expert in MS Office tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, VBA Macros, PowerPoint are mandatory.
  • Ability to leverage Artificial Intelligence applications such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude would be vital.
  • MyClient, Broadridge, MPower, FBS, CGI Wealth 360, or have previous experience with other wealth management platforms and industry applications would be a differentiator.

Responsibilities

  • Support Wood Gundy advisors in growing their practices through scalable portfolio management.
  • Run the day-to-day business of Fee-Based Solutions.
  • Conduct advisor book reviews.
  • Optimize advisor practices.

  • Serve as the main contact for fee-based inquiries.
  • Collaborate with senior Fee-Based Solutions team members to identify and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Enhance the Fee-Based Solutions programs and Unified Account platform for advisors and clients.
  • Uncover and identify opportunities to improve the client and Advisor experience and business effectiveness across the Fee Based Solutions and the Unified Account initiative.
  • Provide critical Advisor practice reviews in support of transitioning into fee based solutions and leveraging scalable portfolio management practices including Discretionary and Unified Accounts.
  • Assist in developing project plans and executing program wide initiatives in areas such as investment management, investment strategy and account type launches, trading and operations, reporting, taxation and marketing.
  • Coordinate project planning across cross functional teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives (stakeholder partners include Compliance, Legal, Operations, Marketing, Investment Management Research, Sales Specialists, etc.).
  • Become a go to resource for Senior Management in the creation of presentations to support strategic initiatives, management committees such as Discretionary Intakes or training sessions.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for inquiries from internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Advisors, Operations, Sales, Marketing) on Advisory, Discretionary and Unified Accounts.
  • Assist in the on-going management of sub-advisory relationships.
  • Solicit and collect feedback from Wood Gundy Advisors to identify opportunities for improvements (efficiencies, Advisor/client experience).
  • Manage vendor relationships and activities in areas including proxy voting, class action settlement and litigation, as well as performance/tax reporting, and client/advisor complaints relating to the administration, and account maintenance of Fee Based Solution accounts.
  • Review current process and procedures for opportunities to optimize, rationalize or transform.
  • Develop, maintain and advisor and client facing documents such as tax, factsheet and performance reporting documents in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
  • Understand regulatory risks and requirements to prepare and validate data relating to fee-based audits.
  • Participate in the management of the Fee Based Solution Mailbox(es), effectively and efficiently resolving and re-routing queries and requests received from Wood Gundy branches.
  • Provide monthly support to Fee Billing and Client Reporting teams, and handle escalations as they arise.
  • Assist in transitioning the Fee Based Solutions onto the Unified Account program through analysis of pricing, Advisor activities and reviews of current processes for potential improvements.
