About The Position

This role is part of Nationwide's Technology team, focusing on enabling a Fortune 100 company to drive innovation and adopt new technologies. The Cyber Security Operations Center’s Innovation and Integration (CSOC-INI) team transforms emerging ideas into secure, production-ready capabilities that advance cyber defense. This position offers a unique opportunity to define how agentic AI is used in cybersecurity at an enterprise scale. The role involves designing and building production-ready solutions that integrate LLM platforms, agent frameworks, enterprise data, and secure workflow orchestration to address Security Operations problems. Collaboration with engineering, platform, and cybersecurity teams is key to turning high-value use cases into trusted, observable, and governed capabilities, shaping the future operating model for AI-enabled cyber defense.

Requirements

  • Security Operations experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong software engineering skills, ideally with advanced Python and working ability in adjacent languages (java, typescript) used across the stack
  • Experience building LLM-powered or agentic applications, including Eval design
  • Strong prompt, context, and tool-integration design skills
  • Experience with harness design, retrieval patterns, search, memory, and knowledge grounding
  • Experience integrating APIs, files, enterprise data, and workflow systems
  • Ability to translate business processes into deterministic and agent-assisted workflows
  • Working knowledge of secure design, testing, evaluation, and release practices
  • Ability to collaborate with architecture, security, platform, and Cyber Security Operations stakeholders
  • Six years of experience in technology, with four years in cyber security.
  • Experience using Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, administration and tools.
  • Experience with network configurations, protocols, scripting, web application security, network security, firewalls and network topology from both physical and logical viewpoints, scripting in PowerShell, Python, Bash and Windows Batch.
  • Ability to make decisions, recommendations and manage work processes.
  • Aptitude to influence, build partnerships and set priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management and/or vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, and operates agentic cyber security solutions using approved models, agent frameworks, enterprise data sources, and tool integrations.
  • Partners closely with cyber security professionals, platform and operations engineers to ensure solutions are valuable, secure, observable, governed, and production-ready.
  • Owns agent behavior, orchestration, prompt and context patterns, retrieval design, evaluation strategy, and workflow implementation.
  • Build production-grade agent workflows, tools, and orchestration logic.
  • Select appropriate models, prompts, context windows, and memory patterns for the use case.
  • Implement retrieval and enterprise data access in a trustworthy and maintainable way.
  • Design human-in-the-loop steps, exception paths, and quality controls.
  • Define and execute evaluation plans for quality, safety, and regression detection.
  • Instrument the solution with the right telemetry in partnership with platform engineering.
  • Remediate defects quickly and support production troubleshooting when solution logic is involved.
  • Continuously improve solution quality, reusability, and business value over time.
  • Leads or responds to complex cyber incidents using industry recognized methodology, e.g., PICERL (Preparation, Identification, Containment, Eradication, Recovery and Lessons Learned).
  • Creates uplift of cyber security detection and alerts for ongoing prevention of threats.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses an efficiency mindset for incident response to design and implement automation and orchestration for the enrichment and handling of cyber security events.
  • Manages and supports vulnerability management via tools, processes, and proactively identifies vulnerabilities in the environment.
  • Plans and conducts team activities to enrich detection and prevention controls.
  • Plans and delivers proactive cyber activities (purple teaming, threat hunting, red teaming, etc.) with full understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Identifies critical log sources and system events used for creation and tuning of cyber security detections.
  • Maintains awareness of current cyber threat landscape to perform evaluation, enrichment and dissemination for action to protect Nationwide members and environment.
  • Leads and works on initiatives as part of the overall cyber operations strategy.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
