About The Position

WSP is seeking a Consultant, Architect for its New York City office, to be involved in projects within the Transportation Facilities Group. This group leads and designs projects supporting local and regional growth through transportation initiatives. The team aims to develop solutions for advancing transportation in the region and comprises over 60 engineers and architects across the Northeast. The role involves varied transportation projects in the NY Metro Region, working under a senior architect. Responsibilities include designs for rail and bus stations, educational facilities, airports, transportation hubs, and rail systems, supporting engineering divisions. Clients include NYCT, MTA Bus, LIRR, MNR, PANY&NJ, Amtrak, NYC SCA, and local utilities. The work ranges from small to very large projects, offering exposure to varied disciplines within the New York Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Arts/ Science in Architecture with a Masters in Architecture
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience
  • Understanding of building codes including, NY State, and NYC Building Codes
  • Knowledge of construction drawing standards
  • Solid understanding of architectural tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Microstation, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and able to multi-task.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation experience is a plus
  • Detailed experience related in architectural building design and rehabilitation with construction exposure a plus
  • Experience within the transportation industry is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Development of Architectural drawings and specifications including renderings and presentation boards
  • Code compliance for new construction and renovations of transportation related facilities
  • Perform local and/or regional site inspections/investigations of projects
  • Attend meetings
  • Project Coordination
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
