About The Position

Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting opportunity for Consultant, Advanced Technology Quality to support our Product Quality and Service Support team. This is a full-time opportunity and will report to the Manager, Advanced Technologies Quality. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the Quality of new and rapidly advancing Vehicle Systems and Technologies (systems and features like BEV, ADS, ADAS, MM, OTA, SWF, etc.), as they are developed and introduced to market, through direct engagement with the respective TMNA and TMC development groups and the products. Quality confirmation steps are with an added complexity and ambiguity that stems from the measure of the quality of these new Vehicle Systems and Technologies as they are measured through the lens of the Customer Acceptance and Customer Satisfaction, and not only by a mere adherence to current TMC Technical Standards.

Requirements

  • University degree in an engineering field
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in a related area
  • Strong business partnering experience with Internal and External stakeholders
  • Strong technical leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as displayed in technical report writing, cross functional meeting coordination or similar activities
  • Demonstrated problems solving and analytical thinking

Responsibilities

  • Execute an early detection mindset (ED) of the product quality concerns related to BEV powertrain, its components and Advanced Vehicle Systems and Technologies (systems and features like BEV, ADS, ADAS, MM, OTA, SWF (APP), etc.) through various sources of information for all current and future Toyota and Lexus BEV models
  • In close collaboration with the Product Quality team prepare Field Technical Reports through investigation and root cause analysis
  • Interact with Toyota global affiliates towards resolving all prioritized technical concerns
  • Coordinate priority items, research projects, field surveys and tests for the R&D, factory and TCI
  • Support as required select phases of the new BEV powertrain model evaluation and testing, ensuring project readiness and performance alignment, and including project stakeholder activities coordination, powertrain cold weather performance evaluations, charging and App evaluations
  • Implement appropriate 'kaizen' (continuous improvement) initiatives to enhance efficiency and boost productivity
  • Represent Canadian market quality performance with high accountability to affiliate engineering groups
  • Initiate and maintain communication with field staff and TCI departments to exchange/share critical technical information
  • Document quality information and work process flows (SOPs) with precision and clarity
