About The Position
Ramboll is seeking a full-time Consultant to join its Air & Climate Acoustics Team within the Environment & Health practice. The role may be based in any of the Northeast Atlantic offices listed: Boston, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut; New York, New York; Portland, Maine; Princeton, New Jersey; or Westford, Massachusetts. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; sponsorship is not available. The Consultant will support environmental noise and vibration assessments for clients in sectors including infrastructure, renewable energy, ports, transportation, and data centers. The work combines sound measurement, acoustical modeling, regulatory interpretation, and practical mitigation design. The role includes technical analysis, field work at urban and remote project sites, and preparation of reports and other client-ready deliverables. The Consultant will work with experienced consultants in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and contribute to solutions that reduce pollution, support responsible development, and improve livability.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in acoustics, engineering, physics, environmental science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in acoustical consulting, environmental noise assessments, vibration assessments, or related technical work.
- Familiarity with acoustical measurement methods, environmental noise regulations, and modeling software such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, or similar tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical findings into clear recommendations for clients and project teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and OneNote.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interest in growing within a consulting environment.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Support environmental noise and vibration assessments, noise mitigation design, and acoustical specifications for public- and private-sector projects.
- Conduct technical analyses with acoustical modeling tools such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, or similar software, including evaluation of potential impacts and mitigation options.
- Perform sound level surveys, vibration measurements, and related field work in locations ranging from dense urban environments to remote project sites.
- Review and interpret local, state, provincial, and federal environmental regulations, standards, and guidance relevant to project siting, design, construction, and operation.
- Prepare technical reports, figures, and client-ready deliverables that communicate findings, recommendations, and practical next steps.
