About The Position

ICON is seeking a Construction Survey Specialist II to support field operations on construction projects in Central Texas and elsewhere as needed. The role verifies and lays out critical locations before foundation concrete placement and 3D printing to ensure printers, foundations, and anchors work together accurately and without rework. The specialist provides timely field data, verifies foundation formwork and stub-up locations, and identifies wet-set dowel locations to help keep projects on schedule and within budget. The position works alongside Superintendents, Senior Construction Managers, the Print Operations team, and external consultants as needed. It supports ICON’s transition toward setting anchors in wet concrete rather than drilling them after a pour. The role requires field work in outdoor conditions and travel to project sites in Texas or other locations as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in construction layout, field survey, or a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a comparably related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with total stations, GNSS/RTK equipment, and levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural, civil, plumbing, and architectural plans.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using project management software, predominantly Procore and ICON BuildOS.
  • Working knowledge of construction tolerances, particularly for concrete foundations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, walk on uneven terrain, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to projects around Texas or other locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with concrete foundation layouts in residential, commercial, multifamily, or MILCON projects.
  • Familiarity with CAD, Trimble, Leica, or similar survey and layout platforms.
  • Experience with 3D printing, robotics, or automated construction equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to identify out-of-tolerance conditions before they delay a pour or print.
  • A self-starter attitude and ability to identify what needs to be done without direction.

Responsibilities

  • Verify foundation plumbing locations before concrete pours to confirm they do not conflict with the print path or print-head clearances.
  • Verify predetermined core locations before pours for wet-setting dowels.
  • Assist in aligning and calibrating printers using total stations, robotic layout equipment, and other survey tools.
  • Establish and verify control points, benchmarks, and digital slab alignment (DSA) parameters.
  • Perform as-built verification of foundation formwork and completed foundations, and report deviations to the Superintendent before work proceeds.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and foundation trade partners to communicate required tolerances and correct out-of-tolerance work.
  • Use ICON’s project management software to log survey activities and share data with project teams.
  • Maintain electronic and on-site physical records, including field notes, point files, and verification reports.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and safeguard survey equipment.
  • Follow ICON’s safety program and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with site Superintendents regarding survey schedules, findings, and equipment needs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
