About The Position

We are actively looking for a Construction Supervisor to join our team on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. As part of the Construction Group, the Construction Supervisor will independently manage on-site investigation activities and field coordination in support of AE site investigation work. On-site investigation is anticipated to take 18 months. The Construction Supervisor serves as the primary field authority, exercising independent judgment to resolve site conditions, enforce quality standards, and guide AE Site Investigation team members in daily operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; required
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in construction management, field engineering, or site investigation; required
  • Experience leading or supervising field inspection teams on civil infrastructure projects; required
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage field operations and resolve site issues with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license; required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Newforma, or other project database software
  • Construction coordination experience on multi-contractor projects
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management; preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Field Manager on site, independently overseeing day-to-day observation, logistical coordination, and execution of AE site investigation work
  • Identify and evaluate construction and engineering problems of moderate complexity; determine and implement field solutions, including modifications to construction plans and work sequences, applying sound technical judgment
  • Manage day-to-day field coordination independently; escalate to the Design Manager only for conflicts with significant schedule, cost, or contractual implications
  • Serve as the primary field point of contact and technical resource for AE Site Investigation Team members; provide guidance on field procedures, safety protocols, and site-specific requirements
  • Hold daily Check-In Meetings with AE Site Investigation Teams to update daily activities, pre-plan work to avoid conflicts, and provide technical direction on upcoming activities
  • Liaise between the Client/Owner and AE Site Investigation Teams to facilitate timely logistical coordination ahead of work activities
  • Work with contractor personnel to schedule and coordinate project inspection and resolve problems; with local government and law enforcement agencies to explain work under construction and coordinate traffic control; with suppliers to monitor receipt of materials; with utility companies to coordinate relocation and installation; and with the public to provide information and resolve issues
  • Own the day-to-day monitoring and coordination of contractor activities across the project site; identify and resolve contractor interferences, escalating complex multi-contractor conflicts to the Interface Engineer as needed
  • Monitor and enforce AE Site Investigation Team’s Best Management Practices (BMP); independently resolve non-conformances in the field and document corrective actions taken
  • Monitor contractor’s operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications
  • Verify lines, grades, dimensions and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment
  • Apply working knowledge of structural inspection principles, construction materials, and field engineering methods to assess site conditions and support technical decision-making during investigations
  • Make field measurements of pay items and conduct materials testing; check equipment; maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates
  • Attend daily and weekly site coordination meetings to monitor progress of all relevant construction contracts; attend other site meetings as required
  • Prepare daily reports recording daily production on site, deliveries, weather conditions, and status of upcoming and ongoing site investigation activities
  • Review and assist in the assembly of final records of construction
  • Maintain a complete file of all written records prepared by or submitted in connection with the project
