About The Position

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site project execution and coordination, serving as the Company’s primary representative at the jobsite. This role provides strategic leadership in subcontractor management, budget adherence, and regulatory compliance, and works directly with clients and federal contracting officers to ensure successful project delivery in alignment with organizational objectives. The Superintendent exercises independent discretion in managing scheduling, field decisions, and vendor coordination, and plays a key role in project strategy, issue resolution, and client engagement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in construction supervision, including direct and indirect labor oversight, and risk/compliance management, may be considered equivalent.
  • Experience managing safety, regulatory, and subcontractor compliance is required.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) certificate (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and relevant construction management tools or reporting systems.
  • Comfortable using technology to support field documentation, compliance tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience interfacing with federal clients, architects, and engineering firms on design and field coordination matters.
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of assigned job site or be willing to relocate.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required.
  • This position requires a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Employees will also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment and must adhere to all company drug and alcohol policies.
  • Tasks include: Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and crawling.
  • The employee must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Federal construction experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with contract language, performance standards, and project billing requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages daily operations on the construction site to ensure compliance with project plans, schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Leads jobsite coordination of subcontractors, equipment, and materials to maintain efficient workflow and adherence to project milestones.
  • Resolves field-level conflicts and construction challenges with minimal oversight, exercising discretion in real-time decision-making.
  • Advises on project delivery sequencing, recommends solutions for drawing/specification conflicts in real-time, and escalates cost-related adjustments when needed.
  • Serves as the Company’s on-site representative for all client, vendor, and government contracting interactions.
  • Leads regular progress meetings with federal contracting officers, architects, and owner representatives.
  • Makes field-level budget adherence decisions, material substitution recommendations, and schedule adjustments in consultation with project management.
  • Recommends improvements to construction methods, vendor standards, and field protocols based on site conditions and client needs.
  • Collaborates with leadership to refine project delivery processes and field execution standards.
  • Enforces all safety protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA), ensuring a compliant and hazard-free work environment.
  • Conducts safety briefings, inspections, and audits to ensure consistent adherence to local, state, and federal safety standards.
  • Maintains accurate safety documentation and reports incidents as required.
  • Directly supervises subcontractors and labor teams, ensuring quality workmanship and accountability.
  • Plays a lead role in hiring, onboarding, and performance management for site-level personnel, with authority to make employment recommendations.
  • Provides on-site leadership, mentoring, and daily direction to all trades and subcontractors under their supervision.
  • Collaborates with project managers to align site activities with project timelines and resource needs.
  • Communicates compliance risks, scheduling constraints, and procurement impacts to internal leadership and contributes to project-level decision-making.
  • Coordinates delivery schedules with vendors and suppliers, adjusting on-site workflows as needed to avoid delays.
  • Communicates progress, issues, and recommendations to leadership, contributing to strategic project decisions.
